At the end of the ultimatum, the students blocked the highway again

At the end of the ultimatum, the students blocked the highway again!

After a 13-hour ultimatum in the second phase, the students of Barisal University blocked the Barisal-Kuakata highway again. Traffic to Bhola, Patuakhali, Barguna, and Kuakata was blocked due to the blockade. The students started protesting on the Barisal-Patuakhali highway in front of the main gate of the university around 10 am on Saturday.

Earlier, the students started a road blockade program from 5 pm on Friday to implement the three-point demand and lifted the blockade by setting a time till 10 am today. Arif Hossain, president of the teachers 'association of the university, Khorshed Alam, general secretary, and Proctor Subrata Kumar Das visited the students' protest site around 7.15 pm on Friday. They want time till 10 am on Saturday to implement the demands of the students. The students then suspended their highway blockade around 7.30 pm. The students had announced to block the highway again if the demand was not met by 10 am today.

Amit Hasan, a student representative from Barisal University, said, "The administration has shown a lot of indifference. And we are sorry for the suffering of the common people due to the road blockade. But we have no other choice.

The protesters alleged that they were attacked at midnight last Tuesday. Later, the injured gave a list of the names of the attackers to the university administration, but the administration did not file a case against them and lodged a written complaint against the unidentified persons. The details of the case did not mention the severity of the incident, the type of torture, but only the beatings and injuries. It is nothing but a farce of the university administration with the students. For this reason, the students seemingly rejected the case and announced to continue the movement till the demand is realized.

Last Tuesday night, students of Barisal University were attacked by transport workers. Then on Wednesday morning angry students blocked the Barisal-Kuakata highway. From there three demands were made. Later at 5 pm on the same day, in a meeting with the university administration and senior officials of the city police, the blockade was lifted after the administration promised to accept the students' demands within 48 hours. However, the students continued their position program.

According to the university administration, a case was filed at Barisal Kotwali Model Police Station on Thursday afternoon as per the demand of the students. University Registrar Muha. Muhsin Uddin filed a case as a plaintiff. However, no one was accused in the case. Students protesting on Thursday afternoon, the university's vice-chancellor. Chadekul met with Arefin and rejected the case.

Later, at a press conference at 8.30 pm on Thursday, student representative Sujoy Shuvo said they had given the names of the three people who led the attack to the university administration. Besides, the students injured in the attack have also mentioned the names of several others. But the university administration has filed a general case of beating without mentioning the name of any accused. This is unacceptable. At that time, they demanded to amend the case again and mention the names of the accused. Otherwise, they were warned to block the road again after 5 pm on Friday and announce new programs.

Two students, including a university student, were beaten and assaulted by a BRTC bus worker at Rupatali bus stand on Tuesday afternoon. The students blocked the highway near Rupatli bus stand in protest. Later, the police were forced to arrest the accused bus worker named Rafiq in the face of the demands of the students. As a result, the transport workers attacked the non-resident students living in the mess in the Rupatali housing area late on Tuesday night. Transport workers attacked anyone they could find with sharp weapons and sticks. The attack continued for about an hour. Additional police went to the spot around 2 pm and brought the incident under control and rescued several injured students and admitted them to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
