A murder case has been registered against a step-son for stabbing his mother and two children to death in a residential area of ​​Sylhet's Shahparan police station. Anwar Hossain, brother of the slain Rubia Begum Chowdhury, filed the case at Sylhet Metropolitan Police's Shahparan Police Station on Friday night.



Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahparan Police Station Syed Anisur Rahman confirmed the information. He told Prothom Alo that after the incident, the teenager was arrested from the spot with a blood-stained knife and kept in police custody. He confessed to the murder after his arrest. He has been made the only accused in the case. He has been shown arrested in the case.

Rubia Begum Chowdhury (30), her daughter Jannatul Hossain Mahi (9), and son Tahsan Hossain Khan (8) were stabbed to death in their bedroom at around 12:30 pm on Thursday. Police arrested Rubia's 16-year-old son with a blood-stained knife in the room.

The teenager's father Abdal Hossain Khan (52) is a grocer by profession. The deceased Rubia is his second wife. His first wife lives in a village house with their two children. Abdal lives with his second wife Rubia in a rented house in Mir Mahalla of Shahparan police station area.

Police are also looking into whether there was any mental illness behind the three murders at the hands of the 18-year-old. According to the police sources involved in the investigation, the boy killed his stepmother and siblings in a rage. He killed alone and stated as the reason, everyone is asleep when they come to eat rice at night. He stabbed his mother in anger as she did not wake up even after shouting.

Abdal Hossain Khan, the father of the teenager, said that the eldest son lived in the family of his first wife. She brought the boy from the village home four months ago to help him with the shopping. When he closed the shop on Thursday night and was preparing to return home, he received the news through neighbors. The shocked Abdal said, ‘Tare (son) was very much loved by his mother (honest mother). There was harmony. What happened in the middle of so much Maya! I'll take the car .... '
